Last we checked, the Occupy Wall Street encampment in Zuccotti Park was uprooted on November 15, and with it went the massive police presence that had been blamed for ballooning budgets and an increase in shootings. But when parents in East Harlem called an emergency meeting with police officials on Thursday after a series of daytime shootings, they were told by the head of the 23rd Precinct, Deputy Inspector William Pla, that Occupy Wall Street was keeping officers off their beat in El Barrio. A group of girls trying to beat paying for the train at a Harlem station resisted arrest by the NYPD when they were caught trying to do so, according to a video uploaded to YouTube.
The four teens tried skipping out on the $2.25 fare before hopping onto a train at the 125th St. station near Lenox Ave. about 11 p.m., police said.
What the girls didn’t know is that two uniformed officers saw what they did and pulled them out of the train – and the teens lashed out.
The video, which was uploaded onto YouTube, shows the feisty teens yelling at the officers as they try to break away from their grips.
“Get off of her,” one teen screams as she tried to pull the officer off of her friend. “What are you doing?”

EAST HARLEM — A shooting in East Harlem left three people hurt, police said.
Police were called to 212 East 122 Street at 5:38 p.m. Wednesday. One of the injured was taken to Harlem Hospital in critical condition with a wound to his neck.
The other two were in stable condition after being shot in the back and buttocks.
Police are hunting a man described as between 18 and 20-years-old, about six feet tall and 160-170 lbs. He was wearing a black short sleeved T-shirt, gray sweatpants and purple sneakers.

HARLEM — Two men were shot near a popular Harlem bowling alley early Wednesday morning, FDNY officials confirmed.
One of the men, 35, was shot in the leg, while the other, 31, took a bullet to the arm. Both were taken to Saint Luke’s Hospital in stable condition, according to the FDNY.
Emergency workers received word of a shooting on Seventh Avenue and West 127th Street at 2:31 a.m., the FDNY said. But police set up police tape at the corner of Seventh Avenue and West 126th, outside of a building that houses Harlem Lanes bowling alley, later that morning.
Police had not made any arrests as of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to an NYPD spokeswoman.
There was no indication that the injured men had been at the bowling alley prior to the shooting. Harlem Lanes normally closes for business at 11 p.m. on Tuesday nights.
If the mayor calls for an evacuation of Zone A, residents in the following areas will be asked to seek higher ground: Battery Park City, Tribeca from Greenwich Street to the Hudson River, the Financial District from Beaver Street to the harbor and from Pearl Street to the East River, Chinatown from Cherry Street to the East River, and on the Lower East Side from Baruch Drive in the Baruch Houses to the river.
In the East Village, Zone A extends to Avenue D from East 4th Street to East 8th Street. From there, it extends to Avenue B up to 14th Street.
From there, the zone extends into Stuyvesant Town, from Avenue C to the East River, and even parts of Gramercy and Murray Hill, from East 20th Street to East 37th Street from First Avenue to the river.
On the west side, everything west of 11th Avenue is in the riskiest flood zone between Tribeca and Chelsea. There, Zone A extends from the Hudson River to 10th Avenue, between West 20th Street to West 26th Street, and from the river to 11th Avenue between West 26th Street to West 41st Street.
From there, the zone covers the area west of the West Side Highway between West 41st and West 72nd Streets.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg urged residents of Zone A Thursday to seek shelter with friends and relatives who live on higher ground. For those who have nowhere to go, the city has shelters set up at certain points in Manhattan that will be open beginning at 4 p.m. Friday.
Those evacuation shelters are: Seward Park High School, at 350 Grand St.; Baruch College on East 23rd Street and Lexington Avenue; the High School of Graphic Communication Arts, on West 49th Street, between Ninth and 10th avenues; John Jay College at 10th Avenue and West 59th Street; Hunter College, at Park Avenue and East 68th Street; Brandeis High School on West 84th Street between Amsterdam and Columbus avenues; IS 118, at Manhattan Avenue and West 105th Street; PS 171, on East 103rd between Fifth and Madison avenues; IS 88, between Adam Clayton Powell Blvd. and Fredrick Douglass Blvd.; Bread and Roses High School, at Edgecombe Avenue and West 136th Street; City College, at Amsterdam Avenue and West 138th Street; IS 90, at Jumel Place and West 168th Street; and at George Washington High School, between Audobon and Amsterdam avenues at West 193rd Street.
From there, evacuees will either be assigned to that shelter or taken to another shelter.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS AND INWOOD — Hundreds of neighborhood residents turned out in Washington Heights and Inwood Tuesday for an evening of fun, food and children's games in the company of their local police departments.
The annual National Night Out events, held at J. Hood Wright Park in Washington Heights and at Anne Loftus Playground in Inwood, offered police and locals a chance to share their concerns and get to know one another.
"What's great about it is there are a lot of kids ... so it gives you a chance to show them what opportunities are out there," Captain Brian Mullen, Commanding Officer of the 33rd Precinct in Washington Heights, explained.
A group of auxiliary police officers — who volunteer four hours per week patroling the community and assisting with events — handed out applications to potential recruits.
