Harlem Motorcyclist Struck Near Spot Where 89-Year-Old Died

HARLEM — A van struck a motorcycle Friday in Harlem just a block from the spot where an 89-year-old woman was killed the day before, an FDNY official said.
"It does appear to be (near) the same location," a spokesman said.
The latest accident happened at 146th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard at about 1:20 p.m.
Witnesses said the motorcyclist was headed south on Adam Clayton Powell when it collided with a van crossing on W. 146th Street, witnesses said. It was unclear which vehicle might have ran the light.
The motorcyclist, who suffered a nasty hand injury, stumbled from the scene but then waited for paramedics, witnesses said. Fire officials said they did not know the victim's condition.
"He was bleeding all inside his helmet," said Vercelle King, 46, a witness.
There was no word yet on possible charges, police said.
At 145th Street, Leonia White, 89, died when a livery cab and a pickup truck collided Thursday.
Neighbors complain that the area is a death trap with motorists regularly speeding and making dangerous turns.
"The whole avenue is bad," said Cheryl Roberts, 45. "The lights change too fast."
